Thank you for visiting Gen Otorhinolaryngology Clinic.
From May 8th, the coronavirus has been classified as a Type 5 virus, similar to influenza.
However, the infectivity remains unchanged for 10 days after the onset of fever or laryngeal pain .
Currently , there are almost no antiviral drugs that can be used if the patient is taking oral medication due to an underlying disease .
For this reason, it is considered a virus that poses a high risk to the lives of the elderly .
At our hospital, there are many elderly patients who are seen for dizziness and tinnitus, and we are concerned that there is a high risk of cross-infection if they are treated in the same room as a coronavirus patient.
Furthermore , even if a young person is infected, the after-effects such as loss of smell and chronic fatigue are painful .
Even if the coronavirus is moved to Category 5, the contagiousness and symptoms of the coronavirus will not decrease.
At our hospital, we suspect coronavirus infection if you have pain in the pharynx or larynx (around the throat) and a fever within one week of your visit .
In that case, we will conduct a coronavirus + influenza antigen test to determine whether or not you are infected .
In addition, most people who regularly take painkillers or oral steroids for back pain, etc. do not develop a fever .
If this applies to you, please contact us in advance before visiting .
